Dr. Songya Zhang, Associate Researcher at Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology (SUAT), and an adjunct master's supervisor at China Medical University. He has received support from the Shenzhen Peacock Program and the Guangdong Provincial Overseas Pearl River Talent Program. He obtained his doctoral degree in natural sciences summa cum laude from the University of Freiburg. After returning to China, he has been engaged in scientific research at the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology. He has been appointed as an expert in the Future Industry Technology Research Think Tank of Shenzhen Research Institute of Shandong University.

1. Develop novel drugs and industrially valuable catalytic enzymes based on synthetic biology principles;

2. Identify and analyze novel medicinal protein targets using structural pharmacology approaches.

Research Projects:

He has led projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Postdoctoral Science Foundation of China, the Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Commission, and the Shenzhen Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. He has also participated as a key member in one major project led by Academician Zhang Youming at a Shenzhen key laboratory.

As the first author or co-first author, he has published 12 articles in international academic journals such as Chem. Soc. Rev., Nat. Prod. Rep., Acta. Pharm. Sin. B., Chem. Sci., and ACS Chem. Biol. Additionally, he has authored two chapters in English books as the first author, published in the classic chemistry textbooks Comprehensive Natural Product III (2020) and Handbook of Carbohydrate-Modifying Biocatalysts II (2016). He has also been granted two Chinese invention patents (ranked first).
