The Faculty of Synthetic Biology (SynBio Faculty) is one of the six founding faculties of SUAT co-established with the Institute of Synthetic Biology (iSynBio), Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Rooted in a strong foundation of biological sciences and biotechnology, the faculty distinguishes itself with synthetic biology as its hallmark. It strives to build an innovative platform for education and research that emphasizes cutting-edge interdisciplinary studies. The faculty creatively implements the educational philosophy of "Integration of education and research, Integration of education and enterprise" and adopts a talent cultivation model based on the three-track system of "basic science, engineering, and entrepreneurship." This approach provides comprehensive support for training highly competitive, multidisciplinary talents in biotechnology and synthetic biology. By integrating the latest research findings into its curriculum, encouraging student participation in laboratory research, and building deep partnerships with innovative industrial platforms, the faculty ensures a close alignment between education and industrial practice.
