Biography

Dr. Li Jianjian, Research Assistant Professor, and a Shenzhen “Peacock Plan” Category C Talent. He graduated from The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a PhD in Molecular Biotechnology, and conducted postdoctoral research at the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, where he received support as a Guangdong Overseas Postdoctoral Fellow. He has long been engaged in research on epigenetic regulation, successively elucidating the regulatory functions and mechanisms of transcription factors(TFs) and non-coding RNAs. Using multi-omics approaches, he studied the evolutionary dynamics of transcription factor regulation in plants, revealing the limited conservation of TF binding sites (cistrome) and the wide-spread cistrome divergence during plant evolution. He systematically summarized the roles of non-coding RNA in mammalian X chromosome dosage compensation, its contribution to sex-biased diseases, and the potential therapeutic applications. He further conducted in-depth multi-omics analyses on the features and mechanisms of non-coding RNA-mediated chromatin regulation in the model organism Drosophila, revealing the functional role and mechanistic basis of sex chromosome dosage compensating RNA in modulating autosomal gene expression. Relevant research has been published in journals such as Nature Communications(2022, 2025), Genes & Diseases, Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology.
